Ovation Taps Popular Urban Artist BUA as Host of "American Revolutionaries" Series

Los Angeles – March 22, 2010: Internationally acclaimed urban artist Justin Bua (“BUA”) has been tapped to host the Ovation weekly series “American Revolutionaries.”  Ovation, the only television channel dedicated to art and contemporary culture, airs the series every Tuesday night at 8 p.m. PT/11 p.m. ET.
“American Revolutionaries” is a series of profiles that feature a cross section of American artists who have changed the way we think and feel about a certain kind of art.    The series has focused on great musicians and composers, photographers, fine artists, dancers, authors and playwrights, designers and architects.  Coming up, “American Revolutionaries” will feature such notable and revolutionary artists as Truman Capote, Martha Graham, Aaron Copeland, Robert Rauschenberg, Edward Weston, Dale Chihuly, and I.M. Pei.

BUA is internationally known for his best-selling collection of fine art posters--”The DJ” being one of the most popular prints of all time. Starting in the world of commercial art, BUA designed and illustrated myriad projects, from skateboards and CD covers to advertising campaigns. He developed the look and feel of the opening sequence for MTV’s Lyricist Lounge Show, EA Sports video games NBA Street and NFL Street, and the world of Slum Village’s award winning music video “Tainted” among others. He designed the BUA line of apparel and a limited edition shoe line with PF Flyers that sold out completely. BUA continues to be a leading innovator in both the fine and commercial art worlds.
“BUA brings an authentic voice to our ‘American Revolutionaries’ series,” said Kris Slava, SVP of Programming, Ovation TV.   “He is a ‘revolutionary’ in his own right as a groundbreaking urban artist, but he has strong, well-informed opinions about all kinds of art which makes him the ideal host for this fantastic, ongoing series.”

“‘American Revolutionaries’ is one of those great ‘finds’ on television.  Once you discover it, you’re hooked.  Every week you discover something new about a legendary artist or learn about a pivotal artist in a genre you know very little about.  It’s an exciting, entertaining and enlightening look into American culture,” said BUA.
