Ovation Names Erica Martinez as Art DirectorSanta Monica, CA – June 27, 2012 Ovation, the only multi-platform network celebrating art, artists and all forms of artistic storytelling, has named Erica Martinez as its new art director. Martinez, based at the network’s Santa Monica headquarters, will report directly to Ovation SVP Marketing Gaynor Strachan Chun.
Martinez will collaborate with marketing, copywriters and designers to develop ideas, as well as create and execute all off air marketing materials for the network. Included in her responsibilities are consumer and trade ads, brochures, signage, invitations, posters, premiums, event themes and the network’s arts advocacy campaigns.
“Erica joins us as we are building our in-house creative team and will lead our off-air creative strategy and execution,” said Strachan Chun. “Her extensive creative marketing background will be a huge asset to us as we ramp up our overall marketing efforts around the network’s rebranding campaign, as well as the upcoming premiere of our original series ‘A Chance to Dance’.”
Martinez joins Ovation from Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios where, for the past five years, she has served as manager of creative for the worldwide television unit’s marketing division. In this role, she spearheaded the creative design for MGM’s various media platforms, including MGM Television, MGM HD, This TV, MGM Showcase and IMPACT. She was also instrumental in devising extensive marketing materials for both industry and consumer events and had oversight of creative for MGM’s VOD titles.
Previously, Martinez worked as a graphic designer for Two West (formerly known as Melanie Paykos Design) as well as independently for such clients as Lionsgate, Debmar-Mercury, NBC/Universal Sports, Tennis Channel, Hallmark Channel, Cynopsis Media, Crossfit, DISC Sports & Spine Center, Specific Media/Myspace and Macaroni Kid.
Martinez, who earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in Communication Arts from Los Angeles’ Otis College of Art & Design, is a member of American Institute of Graphic Arts. She was awarded a Promax Award in 2007 for an elaborate printed invitation created for an event hosted by CBS Paramount.
