Gregg Fleishman

In design, there is form, function, and now just plain cool. These three ingredients are all part of the imagination and work of Gregg Fleishman, architect, designer, artist, and inventor. Born in Los Angeles in 1947, Fleishman was educated at an alternative school founded by his mother. He received his architectural degree, in 1970, from the University of Southern California. He has created shelter systems, play structures for children, furniture, and even vehicle designs. He holds seventeen patents, including ones for shelter systems that need no screws or fasteners to be folded into a self-supporting structure. Using slotted European birch plywood and plastics, Fleishman has made building easier and more fun. His SCULPT Chairs are in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, New York's Museum of Modern Art, and the Yale University Art Gallery.
