Vicente Amigo
The dance, the rhythm, the guitar -- flamenco is one of the most powerful musical expressions. And who, today, is the leading player? Surely, Vicente Amigo is at the top. Born in 1967 in Guadalcanal, Spain, Amigo was raised in Córdoba, where he still lives. He started to study with Merenque De Cordoba at the age of five. By fifteen, Amigo was attracting attention for the way he and his guitar attacked the music. His professional career began with the band of Manolo Sanlucar, but he soon moved on to a solo career as a flamenco guitarist and composer. With five albums under his belt, two of which have received the Latin Grammys for Best Flamenco albums, Amigo has set a new standard of how to play, and move to, flamenco.
