Deep Blues
While many insist that the days of country blues are long over, filmmaker Robert Mugge and late rock writer Robert Palmer journeyed to Mississippi to prove that this vibrant genre of music was still alive and kicking. Joined by Dave Stewart of the band Eurhythmics, Palmer and Mugge discover that the traditional sounds of Southen Blues have survived in Delta country, isolated from its more modern descendants like rock-n-roll, R&B and contemporary country music. Featuring performances by R.L. Burnside, Junior Kimbrough, and Jessie Mae Hemphill.
