Monumental Vision in Iceland
Here Andrew Rogers has been invited to Akureyri, one of the twenty largest cities in Iceland located at the end of Iceland's largest fjord to create a series of earth artworks to preserve their ancient Celtic/Viking mythology. The Icelanders' belief in elves and trolls is a carry-over from their early Norse religion and relationship with their Celtic thralls (slaves) who also held the same beliefs. Rogers will create a large Nordic eagle, which appears on the Seal of Iceland, and a Nordic rune symbol which means NOW.
