Piotr Anderszewski: The Unquiet Traveller

Piotranders_160x120

The extreme loneliness of the recital, the heroism and also the cruelty involved, I sometimes think that I'll never do recitals ever again'. So ruminates Piotr Anderszewski in THE UNQUIET TRAVELLER, which follows the distinguished pianist on a concert tour by train through his native Poland. Fortunately, his quote is only intended as hyperbole - to express the stringent rehearsal times, the long travels, and the pure energy required to perform with the sometimes maddening vigor of a master pianist. This documentary features impromptu performances, piano practice in his private train car, Piotr's feelings on the state of Poland, and a New Year's Eve Party dinner party thrown where else, but his train. What this all amounts to is a look at an extremely unconventional creative process that somehow works to make Anderszewski one of the most compelling and proficient pianists of our time.
