On Saturday, February 26, the Donkey Mill Art Center in Holualoa held their 15th annual art auction. The auction is the center\u2019s largest fundraiser and brought out art enthusiasts including Hawai\u02bbi County Mayor Mitch Roth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The theme of this year\u2019s event was convergence, which Donkey Mill Art Center Communications Director and Curator Mina Elison described as \u201d the power of the arts bringing people together.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Convergence exhibit was comprised of 75 works by emerging artists in a range of mediums including mixed media, painting, lauhala weaving, and more.\u00a0 All items were available for bid during silent and live auctions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Executives from Charter Spectrum and the Ovation Network presented the Mill with a $10,000 check as part of their \u201cStand For The Arts\u201d program which supports local arts organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prior to the live auction, Mayor Roth expressed his appreciation of the arts and his enthusiasm for attending the event in addition to acknowledging the center\u2019s role in the community. Mayor Roth said, \u201d When you think of what we have been through over these last 2 years, the arts are so healing for all of us, the Donkey Mill has done some amazing things.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Total proceeds from the auction event surpassed $96,000, a number above the Donkey Mill\u02bbs projected goal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
