As part of the partnership, Ovation will contribute $60,000 to support local arts, cultural, and educational organizations in six Spectrum markets: <strong><u>New York City, Los Angeles, Austin, Columbus, Syracuse, and Raleigh.<\/u><\/strong> The announcement was made by John Malkin, Executive Vice President, Content Distribution, Ovation and Adam Falk, Senior Vice President, Government Affairs, Spectrum.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have partnered with Spectrum to recognize the outstanding work of some highly creative and effective arts organizations in their markets and provide them with funding to help further their programmatic and artistic efforts,\u201d said Malkin. \u201cSpectrum has been a great partner and supporter of Ovation and we are extremely pleased that they have joined us for our first <em>Stand for the Arts<\/em> Awards program.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to work with Ovation on this important initiative and to provide funding to some outstanding and deserving organizations in areas we serve,\u201d said Falk. \u201cOvation is a leader in supporting the arts at the local level and we\u2019re proud to be partnering with them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Throughout October and November, the awards will be presented to the recipient in each market by representatives from both Ovation and Spectrum. State and local government officials as well as members of the local press will also be invited to attend. Spectrum will air public service announcements highlighting the partnership with Ovation and the value of local arts organizations in their communities.<\/p>\n<p>Organizations were evaluated based on three criteria: their level of community outreach and engagement, their ability to create inclusive access to artistic programming, and their innovative approach to arts education and skills development. Each of the following organizations were recognized as exceptional in these areas and will receive a $10,000 contribution:<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>COLUMBUS CHILDREN\u2019S THEATRE, Columbus, OH:\u00a0 <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>CCT educates and engages young people of all backgrounds in the theatre arts. Key programs foster self-esteem and self-discovery by emphasizing discipline, integrity, team-building, and communication skills in a positive and creative environment. The theatre promotes access to theatre arts for families who do not have regular opportunities to appreciate theatre in their lives because of economic, cultural, or other barriers<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>GROUNDSWELL, Brooklyn, NY: <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Groundswell brings together artists, youth, and community organizations to use art as a tool for social change, for a more just and equitable world. Their projects beautify neighborhoods, engage youth in societal and personal transformation, and give expression to ideas and perspectives that are underrepresented in the public dialogue.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>CNY ARTS, Syracuse, NY: <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The team at CNY Arts believes that a healthy arts industry is essential to the quality of life and community in Central New York. Their programs connect the public to a rich local array of arts and cultural opportunities. No matter the role- whether artist, audience member, participant, venue, educator or supporter- CNY Arts empowers stakeholders to create and experience the arts throughout Central New York, in every town, city, neighborhood and school.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>CREATIVE ACTION, Austin, TX: <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Creative Action is a nonprofit, arts-based, youth development organization that provides fun, hands-on creative learning programs in the classroom, in after school settings and in the community.
