Los Angeles, CA – October 17, 2017   Ovation TV, America’s only arts network, will air the U.S. premiere of the critically acclaimed documentary The Secret Life of Lance Letscher (2017) from director Sandra Adair next month. The film is a deeply personal and psychological portrait of internationally-known collage artist Lance Letscher, told through his memories of triumph and trauma. The Secret Life of Lance Letscher will premiere as Ovation’s “Artists and Icons” movie of the week Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 7pm ET / 4pm PT.

Featuring images of more than a hundred of his intricate and complex collages, sculptures and installations, viewers gain insight into Letscher’s methodical techniques and brilliant mind. The documentary film is directed, produced and edited by Sandra Adair. Adair, A.C.E. is an Academy Award-nominated feature film editor (Boyhood) and is making her directorial debut  with The Secret Life of Lance Letscher.

Letscher creates poetic, often playful collages out of found objects, such as old letters, newspaper clippings, books, recipes and album covers, all cut and composed into fascinating patterns and textures. A skilled colorist and abstractionist, Letscher’s growing international reputation has resulted in solo shows in England, France, Germany, Poland, Spain. In 2009, his monograph collage was published by the University of Texas Press. His art resides in the collections of the Austin Museum of Art, the Houston Museum of Fine Arts and numerous corporations.

The Secret Life of Lance Letscher is really an ideal film for Ovation,” said Scott Woodward, EVP of Programming and Production, Ovation. “As America’s only arts network, our mission is to showcase artists, the artistic process and artfully told stories. This film is the embodiment of all those things.  We think our audience will be moved by this intensely personal film.”

Adair resides in Austin, Texas, and has enjoyed an ongoing artistic collaboration with film director Richard Linklater, having edited 18 films for him over the past 22 years, including cult classic Dazed and Confused, the 2012 comedy Bernie and the critically acclaimed Before trilogy.
