We lost the great filmmaker John Singleton today, after his family made the difficult decision to take him off of life support. Singleton was a pioneer in his craft as writer-director and TV producer. He was the youngest person to have ever been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Director (“Boyz n the Hood”). He also directed and produced big blockbuster films like “2 Fast 2 Furious,” “Shaft,” and “Four Brothers.” Singleton has stated that some of his biggest influences in film include the Star Wars franchise and the world of Steven Spielberg. He was 51 years old.
